Optics talk with @BushCampingTools
You need to know about this product!
MAGVIEW is a division of Warne scopes AND CAN BE SEEN HERE:
MAGVIEWGEAR.COM
During the IWA 2025 I met with William Hemeyer who is in charge of International Sales and Product Development at WARNE since jan 2025. He kindly arranged with Kort Nielson, Director of marketing at WARNE to send me a MAGVIEW DigiScoping mobile phone B1adaptor, part of their Premium DigiScoping Instruments to review.
So a big shout out to both Will and Kort for the opportunity to review this product!
I go to IWA so I can bring to you some of the latest and cool gear for outdoor pursuits currently on the market or even about to hit the market. Quality products so you don't waste your time buying rubbish and junking up the planet!
I saw these things sitting on a display at the WARNE Scope mounts booth at IWA 2025 and they immediately caught my eye as a really great idea. They are Made in The USA too!
I mean, how many times have we wanted to use the mobile phone to capture some image/video through our binocs but end up with some half baked shaky out of focus image/clip? I had to have one to show on the channel and write about it here on the blog.
This product will be of big big interest to all hunters, bird watchers, fishermen/woman, bowhunters etc etc. Even hikers and campers, in fact anyone who is currently using binoculars or spotting scopes to record your precious memories and or "secret locations"!
What's in the Box?
The B1 adapter has a threaded brass insert, so no thread from the socket heads encounters any plastic hence ensuring a secure fit to your eyepiece of choice.
Also by scanning the QR code one can download the mounting instructions from their site!
An important note: Please read!! The small print (these are my words NOT from WARNE).
If you intend to continue using magnetically induced charging on your phone (if it has this feature) then by placing the stainless steel plate against the back of your iPhone (for example) will prevent induction/wireless charging of your phone and you will only be able to charge your phone via a cable. If you also decide to place the plate only against the supplied phone cover for wireless charging, this will also not work and you will have to charge your phone ONLY via a cable.
If none of that worries you then proceed as instructed.
As an aside the stainless plate is effectively blocking the magnetic field and hence preventing the coupling taking place for wireless charging.
Considering most people probably don't charge their phones wirelessly, because this form of charging is very slow compared to a direct USB cable then this shouldn't be of any issue. Also note that if your phone is under warranty, for example an iPhone then even though sticking the self adhesive plate to your phone case will in no way damage the phone, Apple will definitely chuck a fit and NOT warranty anything if they can find an excuse not to. So bear this in mind too if your phone is still under warranty!
Recording some video through our Olympus (Model PC I) binoculars with an iPhone 14S.
Summary
Well made and cool idea!
It's not a negative however:
The Magview B1 will work better for larger Binoculars IMHO, as while it works good with these smaller binoculars, the whole thing will be easier to hold if larger standard sized binoculars are used.
