Work Tuff Gear ELBRUS Fixed Blade Survival/Combat? Knife

Work Tuff Gear ELBRUS-as in Mountain!

Work Tuff Gear ELBRUS is a big beefy spear point with an excellent convex grind on the edge. The blade has been sabre ground with a ever decreasing swedge which starts just approx. 3cm from some nice finger gimping.

My one came with fluorescent orange, textured G10 scales. The blade steel is Bohler's K110 or D2. There is a partial "splash" pattern applied to this blade as well. The knife has been vacuum hardened to HRC 57-59.

The blade length is 7 inches

Work Tuff Gear Elbrus full tang convex ground fixed blade.

The WorkTuff Gear Elbrus is a large fixed blade knife, featuring a spear point design and a top swedge, along with some finger gimping. The convex grind provides a tough cutting edge. I just busted p some of this tough fat wood, to produce fatwood chips to start a fire. The edge bites well but could also benefit I feel by being a tad thinner t help it bite better into wood. It's a matter of possibly not being able to have the best of both worlds, that is, a super tough edge that can take abuse; and a thinner edge that bites like no tomorrow! **(However, stop press: the manufacturers will be thinning down this edge in future ELBRUS model releases).

Non reflective, partially "Splash" blade finish technique as seen on this model.

Easily seen with the fluorescent orange handle scales in G10 (other colours available).
It's a big spear point with a very nice tapering swedge to the tip. The tip isn't woosy either!

After chopping heavily seasoned knotty birch and hacking into both dirty softwood trees and fat wood, slicing through meat is no problem.

Good comfortable grip, even when swinging this big knife.

Stick around, as this knife is "going bush" soon in the real Aussie sense and we shall see how it fares in a really tough environment, some just suited for such a big knife as the Work Tuff Gear Elbrus! Also I'll be showing the new carry system for this knife.
