SPEED OF ATTACHMENT

Tip of the week
SPEED OF ATTACHMENT

Screw gate alloy Karabiner (unmarked military version of climbing company's products) in the upper loop of a Molle compatible carry system.

Speed of attachment. What do I mean by this?

I mean if you have to for any reason remove a knife and scabbard from a pack or even your person, a quick way to put it together and get moving. I mean a way to send a knife and scabbard to some one in a hurry if you have a rope.

I have several knife/scabbard systems to which I have always had attached a good quality screw gate or snap link karabiner-(climbing grades- not toys)- this means that if I need to quickly need to attach the system to something else I can. Far far quicker than threading Molle straps into pack or vest Molle loops. The advantages should be clear. The Karabiner if responsibly looked after should be looked upon as a safe link for the recipient or yourself to use for a myriad of purposes. Proper Climbing karabiners are UIAA rated or other certificate for strength and can be relied upon. They add little weight if aluminium alloy ones are used. Use of steel screw gates can also be of use for impromptu abseils etc.

Of course this latter tip is only for those who are already familiar with the proper handling and usage of climbing equipment.
